Brass plate: "Presented to Canford by his son Arthur (Head Groundsman 1924 - 1968), Handwritten inscription on back: "Photograph approx 1890. Owned by John Wren (gamekeeper to Lord Wimborne). Presented by his son, Arthur, .5 December 1994." NB Incorrect to say that photo is from 1890: West Wing has its second storey, suggesting 1930s.

Mark Rathbone write: This one shows my father's right hand bandaged up - it is hidden in the first one. He had had an operation to relieve a tightening tendon which was preventing him straightening one of his fingers. The view out of the window from this classroom, which is now a lab, shows the rather scruffy mower shed which I can remember being there, with a sight-screen on Mountjoy just visible in the background.

John Phillips, Bishop of Portsmouth and Chairman of Governors, organised Christian summer camps at Canford. He is sitting six from the left in the front row. He was CoG throughout most of the 1960s and 70s but tis photo looks more 60s

Made of pine. Surface covered with twenty tiles of the Canford crest. Two loose tiles for replacement. Presumably made by a pupil. Unknown date.

Framed display

Ornate wooden frame (c60 x 60cm) surrounding four photos and text on Canford' history. Photos are: the mill buildings in 1979; the mill in 1894; rowers at Henley; 1st XV v OCs in 1927. The display emphasises Canford's long history, back to Saxon times and is appears to aimed at prospective parents. It was put together c1983 as it talks of 'over the past 60 years Canford has...' and presumably hung where parents could see it.
