John of Gaunt's Kitchen at Great Canford (James Basire).

EL00611

Plate from Hutchins' History of Dorset. It appeared only in the 2nd edition. Very similar to Hooper's engraving. Although James Basire was a notable line engraver of the 18th centruy, the engraving by the little known Hooper seems to have been seen as teh more attractive and accomplished performance. Top right: Vol III p 9 Bottom Left: T. Rackett del Bottom right: Js Basire sculp. See BX01-019
