Veevers-Carter (F45) - 'Robinson Crusoe'

A series of long newspaper articles (Daily Express - 3, 4, 5 Mar 1969) written by Mark Veevers-Carter describing his family life on a remote island (Astove) in the Seychelles, 700 miles from the nearest shop. All headed 'Robinson Crusoe 1969) Separate article written by his wife Wendy Veevers-Carter i an unknown newspaper 1970 article from the Bournemouth Echo describing his death at a dentist in Mombasa Letter (dated 19 Sep 1969) from Mark V-C to Mrs Weeks in the Canford book shop din response to a card she had sent (presumably following the article). He mentions that he has had a card from a pupils who he says is 'Alexander from Monteacute' who wants to lead the same sort of life. This is presumably Martin (M70) or David (M72) Alexander.

Hand written short plays written by SB Leonard for performance by Canfordians. The known performances are given after the titles. Some are only 3/4 pages long so probably done for in-House entertainment. The Cage (spoof on The Cage at Carnford); 3 copies Duologue from A Tale of Two Cities (possibly performed at Masters Concert in 1929) Alexis Razoum Markheim (Speech Day 1943); 2 copies An Old Master Reason and Moderation (from The Rivals) Generosity A Proposal of Marriage (from Pride and Prejudice) A Young Lady in Love (from Jane Austen) The Singing Competition (cast includes SBL, CDD Beresford, Bingo Rooth, Rose Canning, T Pern, Hall, Kendall, Elves, Goldingham, Mather AN, Kendall, Morrison, Elvy and possibly Ridler, Rowell, Medwin, Worth). Date must be late 1930s Little Isaac (1939) (operetta from Sheridan). Cast was CDD Beresford, Mrs Leonard, Rose Canning, Hall, Bennett all of whose measurements are in the back Elimination. Cast was SD Leonard, Yates, Power, Smith, Prynne, Kay, Beeson all of whom were in Franklin under Leonard in the mid-1940s. The play is written in an old geometry book (spelled 'Geometary') and includes some music reports and notes from a 1943 piano lesson. The Eternal Quadrilateral (booklet includes some notes from a First Aid talk!) Donated by Marion Peskett (granddaughter of SBL)
