Arthur Oberg worked with Canford from the time it started and was on the staff periodically. His lecture at Canford on 28/4/1938 on Swedish Physical Education was reported in the national press. The following papers were donated by Mrs Diana Jarvis, his granddaughter: -papers on his qualifications and his 'knighthood of the Royal Order of Vasa' from the Swedish government. (Some of these are in Swedish. -A copy of the speech he gave on 28/4/1938 -Some press-cuttings: obituary; picture of PE event of April 1938, news of his knighthood, obituary, three newspaper reports on his PE event of April 1938

Sport's trophies

Paperwork explaining the gift of a large number of silver cups from Hailey School. When HS closed, all the trophies were presented to the schools where the last winners went on to from HSl. As it was a local prep school many pupils came to Canford and the cups have since been used to replace a number of the trophies lost when Court House was burgled.

Boxing - HM letters

A number of letters to and from the HM. Some are just about booking space for matches, but most show the decreasing interest in staging matches. Those with Winchester focus on mismatches; a four way match between Kings (Bruton), Sherborne, Canford and Marlborough) cancelled for medical reasons; the school doctor is involved; boxing is made optional and then stopped.

Parent letters re co-education and long hair

About fifty letters from parents to the HM (Wallace) in response to his questionnaire. No copy of he questionnaire exists but it is simple to infer that he asked a) whether having a few girls in the 6th form would be good and b) whether boys should be allowed to grow their hair longer. there was universal support for having a few girls and near total agreement that boys' hair should remain fairly short.
