Ten Tors hopefuls

Last weekend,  6 teams of Ten Tors hopefuls braved the elements for a weekend on Dartmoor training for the Ten Tors challenge coming up, led by Mr Hooker. We took a look back at the training weekend for the Ten Tors hopefuls 20 years ago, back in 2004, also accompanied by Mr Hooker, when they spent the weekend in much drier, but bitingly cold conditions.

Here is an extract from the 2004 Canfordian:

“Two cold, very cold, but near perfect days on Dartmoor saw 25 pupils walking in preparation for the selection for the Ten Tors 35 and 45 mile teams. Streams were frozen and snow covered much of the ground, but the sun shone and visibility was terrific… only it did not test the map reading skills”
