Girls U16 Win National Hockey Championship 1999

In March 1999, the Canford School Girls’ under 16s Hockey team travelled to the National Hockey Stadium in Milton Keynes to take part in the U16 Womens’ British Aerospace School Championships. After 4 gruelling matches throughout the day, their final victory against John Taylor School secured the girls the title of 1999 U16 National Champions. Speaking at the time, manager Cathy Byng was delighted at the achievements of her team: “They were fantastic. There’s no doubt that they were the best team on the day and thoroughly deserved the title.”
