In the 100 years since Canford Manor became Canford School, the library has grown and moved several times.
When Canford School opened its doors to the first 147 pupils in 1923, there were no purpose built school buildings on the school grounds, so it made sense that the first school library would be in the same place as the library was before the school opened. In 1993, the library extended into the Old Drawing Room, which was previously being used as classroom space. The library remained in this location until 2017. With plans in place for a brand new library building, the Library was moved to a temporary location, in the Octagon Building, where it would stay until July 2021.
In August 2021, building work was completed, and the new library opened its doors to pupils and teachers in September 2021. The new space offered increased book shelf space, as well as lots of flexible study spaces and classrooms to accommodate the changing needs of the school.
